BOOSTHEAT (FR0011814938 / ALBOO) is a participant in the French energy efficiency industry. France’s leading hybrid solar panel manufacturer DUALSUN and sustainable and environmentally friendly heating system supplier Ratiotherm have announced the entry of the HORIZON cooperation project in the operation phase of SUN. The goal is to combine heat pumps with Combine solar energy with renewable energy. The goal of the SUN HORIZON project is to demonstrate the effectiveness of integrating solar energy (photovoltaic panels and hybrid solar panels) into heat pump technology for heating and cooling applications at several pilot sites in Europe to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and energy Costs and consumption of fossil fuels.
The European project was launched in October 2018 and brought together more than 20 French and European partners, including CEA-INES, the French National Institute of Solar Energy for research, and technical partners BOOSTHEAT, DUALSUN, Ratiotherm, Schneider Electric (as energy management Expert) and Check Watt (service company in user interface).
The goals of the SUN HORIZON project are based on three main pillars:
I Two first installations of single-family houses
In late October 2021, BOOSTHEAT, DUALSUN, and Ratiotherm used photovoltaic and solar hybrid panels installed on two independent houses in Riga, Latvia, to couple heat pumps and solar systems for the first time. Latvia has the highest gas network penetration rate in Europe and has launched a large number of heat pumps across the country. Due to the harsh winters there, the data collected may be particularly useful.
In fact, the heat pump installed by BOOSTHEAT will provide space heating and domestic hot water for two separate houses. DUALSUN solar panels will be used to meet as much heating demand as possible, and to generate electricity for heating and household appliances. If surplus power is generated, it is fed into the grid.
The demonstration phase will last until the end of 2023 to record as much data as possible. As part of this project, CW & IES will build a cloud-based monitoring platform. It will be used to collect performance data to develop optimization algorithms and tools, including key performance indicators (KPI), to predict maintenance needs, optimize management to maximize solar operation, and provide manufacturers with data for designing new devices.
SUN HORIZON plans to have eight demonstration sites in Europe for various applications (single-family houses, apartments, small residential areas, swimming pools and sports centers).
BOOSTHEAT was established in 2011 and is a major player in the field of energy efficiency.
